Every implant at Best Smiles Dental Clinic is torque-tested at placement, with resistance measured in Newton-centimetres (Ncm). This provides a direct indication of how securely the implant grips the bone before healing begins.

For same-day loading, the target threshold is 35 Ncm or above across all four implants. The four implants are then splinted together through one rigid prosthesis, distributing bite forces across the entire structure—much like four table legs sharing a load that one leg alone could not support.

This measurement matters because it provides an indication of how the implants may respond to chewing forces while osseointegration is still underway. A lower torque reading can indicate softer bone, where greater microscopic movement may occur at the bone–implant interface.

Excessive movement during the early healing stage can interfere with the bone bonding securely to the titanium implant and may increase the risk of poor integration or early implant failure. A torque value of 35 Ncm is commonly used as a clinical threshold when assessing whether immediate function may be appropriate.

If any implant does not reach the required stability, the treatment plan may be changed to delayed loading. This decision is made during surgery, which is why a responsible dental clinic cannot guarantee same-day teeth before the implants have been placed and their stability assessed.
